For standard submissions, Artists’ Book Reviews keeps the review copies received. I understand that not everyone can trade their book for a review, so I offer a limited number of subsidized reviews. I hope to increase the number of these opportunities as this project grows.
Diversity and equity (fully subsidized)
In order to provide access to artists more equitably, I open a digital submission period during the month of November. On December 15th, notifications will be sent to the chosen artist(s) and arrangements will be made to have the book shipped to Artists’ Book Reviews and returned to the artist at no cost.
To submit, send the following items to artistsbookreviews (at) gmail.com:
- Brief statement of financial need or marginalized identity
- Photo or video documentation of the book (files can be attached or linked from the cloud)
- Written description or project statement
- Year completed
- Media/processes
- Press/publisher, if applicable
- Price, if for sale
The purpose of this opportunity is to increase access to Artists’ Book Reviews, so please let me know if there are other accommodations I can make.
One of a kind (partly subsidized)
Beyond financial need, sometimes a book is just too precious to part with. For books created in an edition of one, I open a digital submission period during the month of March. On April 15th, notifications will be sent to the chosen artist(s) to ship the book to Artists’ Book Reviews.
Note: the artist will pay for shipping, including return shipping and any insurance.

Sponsorship
If you’re looking for a way to support Artists’ Book Reviews, sponsoring a subsidized review is an important and meaningful way to promote diversity and equity in book arts. Please get in touch if you or someone you know might be interested in helping.
